Napoleon Hill and the Truth About Success

Lets talk about success, lets talk about what it is that creates abundance, and freedom.
There is a scientific formula to becoming successful. There is no disputing this, the science of getting rich is an exact science.
Lets delve a little deeper into some stories of success and what it takes to create wealth in your life. Ã, I will ultimately lead into the story of Napoleon Hill and the truth about success. Also how Think and Grow Rich came to be, and how it has become known as the bible of success.
I want to give you some examples as to why anyone can gain wealth. Your background, genetics, and current position in society play no role in the level of income that you can achieve.
Take Bill Gates for example, a college dropout who was in his second year at Harvard and completely broke. It was during this time that he went to IBM with an idea and convinced the computer powerhouse to purchase something that didn't even exist.
He in turn went to create something that would change the world. He bought CPM for $50,000, of which he had to beg, borrow, and plea to get the money anyway possible. He in turn created Disk Operating System, or DOS.
Bill Gates Literally synthesized an opportunity out of thin air and created his own success with it.
He has since gone on too create a net worth of more than 72 billion dollars as of September of 2013.
This is how successful people think, they create circumstances that are in their favor, and believe with all of their heart that it is the truth.Did you know that Thomas Edison tried 10,000 times to make a light bulb. And burned down a laboratory worth millions. He was asked what will you do now?Edison simpply stated
"We will start over and begin rebuilding tomorrow."
When asked how he felt about failing 10,000 times at making a light bulb, Thomas Edison said this.
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work."
This is a success mentality and the truth about success, and what it takes to succeed.
Successful people think differently then most. It's like this, you got your every day Joe or Jane. And when they are presented with an opportunity to create wealth and abundance they go ready, aim, aim, aim, aim... They never fire. They spend all their time learning and they don't take action. You'll never get anywhere if you don't take action. Or they make excuses, but I'll talk more about that later.
How do successful people operate? Like this, ready Fire Aim... adjust, Fire, Adjust, Fire, Bulls-eye.
They take massive action, this is what it takes, successful people understand that there is no straight line to success. That you need to take action, and literally fail your way to the top. If you look at it this way it isn't as intimidating, fail all you want. It's encouraged, it's the only way learn. It's how your automatic success mechanism works, but that's for another post.
Now lets talk about Napoleon Hill, one of the largest success "gurus" of all time.
He was author of Think and Grow Rich among other books. Think and Grow Rich was written in 1937 and to this day still is the number ten top selling book in the world at more than 70 million copies. It has been responsible for creating more wealth and more millionaires than any other publication in history. And obviously it is still used by thousands today. This book is the truth about success and what it takes.
As for Hill himself he wasn't always successful, he started as a newspaper reporter. He was actually in financial struggle with a wife and disabled son. His son had no ears, and no ear holes even. A very serious disability, which Hill helped his son overcome by sheer belief, love, and support.
Napoleon Hill was an investigative reporter.
It was through this job and interviews which he had conducted that he had met Andrew Carnegie. At the time Carnegie was a steel baron, railroad tycoon, and the wealthiest most successful man in the world. Andrew Carnegie, a man of immense power stood by a belief that there was a truth about success, and that truth was that every successful person got their success by doing things in a certain way.
Carnegie was looking to have a single man devote his life to interviewing great men of success.
He wanted this man to write a book based upon his conclusions of what it took to accumulate great wealth. As the story goes Napoleon Hill was that man that he chose first. He called upon Hill by telegraph to come to him. Napoleon Hill who was essentially broke, and had only enough money for train tickets to see Carnegie and return home went. In these times, when Carnegie called, people jumped. He was one of the most powerful men in the world.
When Hill arrived at Carnegies, the concept of Think and Grow Rich was explained to him.
Andrew Carnegie told Hill that there was a system for gaining riches. He stated that any man could become rich. Carnegie also believed if Hill met and interviewed this list of successful people that he had come up with, molded himself after them, and studied them. He would in turn learn the truth about success, Hill would hold the master key to riches inside himself. He then would be able to create success as he wished, and in turn transfer the knowledge to others through his writing. And that is how the idea for Think and Grow Rich came to be.
Carnegie began to explain his plan to Hill. He knew from experience that there were always two things that came up. Carnegie knew that people think in one of two ways, either they find a way to do it, or they find excuses why they can't.
You always hear this -
1. I don't have the time...
2. I don't have the money...
Hill had neither, but successful people don't think this way.
Carnegie started his proposal by saying to Hill
"If you're going to do this you have to do it on your own. I know you're struggling, but in order for this to be a true venture, you have to fund 100% of it on your own, I can't force you. You have to make the decision to take the necessary action. I know I have money, but I can't give you any, you have to make this happen. But I can't give you anything except guidance.
Also this is going to take 20 years of your life to interview these people. This list I have is massive, this will be your lives work."
Unknown to Napoleon Hill Carnegie had a stop watch beneath the desk.
He was planning to time Hill after he asked him to make a decision. He would give Hill sixty seconds, if Hill was one second over, he would tell him that he wasn't the man for the job and send him on his way. He told Hill that if he accepted he would give him the first person on his list to interview, which of course was Andrew Carnegie himself. He asked for the final decision, he hit the button on the watch, and he waited. They say it took Napoleon Hill 20 seconds to make a decision. That's not very long at all, Hill said he would do it.
The truth is that Carnegie only gave him 60 seconds because he knew that if Hill had more time to think about it he may not make the decision to do it. To this day Hills work routinely creates abundant wealth and many millionaires worldwide.
This story shows three facts on the truth about success, there are three things that successful people do.
1. Successful people make lots of decisions.
2. They make decisions quickly.
3. Once they make a decision, and are on the path, they don't quit.
Napoleon Hill, Andrew Carnegie, Bill Gates, and Thomas Edison were all just men (I know Bill Gates is still alive and 57 years old).
They were men, men with dreams, men with purpose, and men who took action. They learned how do things in a certain way.
They learned that anyone can achieve success if they just do it. That everyone in the world has the same opportunity to get rich, to make money, and leave a legacy. There is nothing stopping you from creating wealth and living the life you want to live.
I learned the basics of success from life. I refined it in reading, but I learned the truth of success in Empower Network.
